Off the Grid App Ecosystem Design System

Project summary

Off the Grid curated mobile food experiences across Bay Area markets, catering, and relief efforts—serving over 9,000+ guests weekly and managing a growing network of vendors known as Creators. As the organization expanded, the lack of a cohesive design system hindered consistency and efficiency. I led the concurrent design of a suite of Creator and Guest apps alongside the foundational design system, ensuring visual and functional alignment from day one.

Research & Process

I began with a comprehensive audit of workflows and interfaces, mapping journeys across Creator and internal processes to identify onboarding friction and usability issues. As I collaborated with key stakeholders in operations, Creator liaisons, and Creators themselves, it became clear that a set of consistent, reusable UI components would streamline design, development and improve the experience across platforms. To address this, I crafted a lightweight design system—establishing scalable patterns for forms, buttons, states, micro-interactions, and layouts. These components were developed in tandem with new features, ensuring faster builds and a cohesive visual language across native and web platforms.
