Project summary

An AI-powered assistant for Aramark employees—built with a cohesive identity, approachable tone, and key workflows to streamline daily tasks. Sage AI was designed to be more than a utility—it’s a recognizable, trustworthy presence within the company, helping staff navigate systems, resolve issues, and get the information they need without unnecessary friction.

Research & Process

Partnering with Aramark’s internal teams, I mapped Sage’s role across the employee journey and prioritized workflows such as password resets, call routing, product Q&A, and access to HR and IT resources. Sage’s personality, tone, and visual identity were intentionally designed to be distinct from Aramark’s core brand—friendly, approachable, and memorable—so it would stand out as a helpful companion. I led the design of its conversational components, interaction patterns, and escalation flows, ensuring consistency across Microsoft Teams and SharePoint. Rapid prototyping and iterative feedback sessions with internal users shaped Sage into an assistant that feels intuitive, reliable, and personable.

Results

Sage AI launched as a centralized, always-available resource that reduces help desk demand and improves employee self-service. Its distinct identity and consistent interaction model boosted trust and adoption, while its scalable architecture allows for quick expansion into new capabilities. Sage’s success has inspired other Aramark business lines—including Refreshments, Collegiate Hospitality, and others—to launch their own AI assistants modeled on its framework. We are now guiding the early design and experience strategy for these new agents, ensuring they launch with the same clarity, personality, and effectiveness that made Sage a success. Today, Sage serves as the blueprint for Aramark’s broader AI strategy, with its design system and personality model informing future enhancements and integrations.

Sage’s success has directly inspired other Aramark business lines—including Refreshments, Collegiate Hospitality, amongst others, to launch their own AI agents modeled on Sage’s framework. We are now engaged to help shape and guide the initial experiences for these new agents, ensuring each one launches with the same clarity, personality, and effectiveness that made Sage a success. Today, Sage stands as the blueprint for Aramark’s broader AI strategy, with a design system and personality model guiding future enhancements and integrations.
